Low Carbohydrate Diet May Help Diabetic Women Lose Weight

Diabetic women often have a harder time losing weight than non-diabetic women. A study funded by Jenny Craig proved that diabetic women have an easier and more successful weight loss experience when they reduce the number of carbohydrates they consume each day.

This study, which was performed at the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine, compared two types of diets for diabetic women a low carbohydrate diet and a low fat diet. While all of the women did lose some weight on both types of diets, the women on the low carbohydrate diet lost a considerable amount more. The women on the low carbohydrate diet lost almost 21% more weight than the women on the low-fat diet.

Experts suggest that using a diet such as Jenny Craig or one that caters to the type of diet you want and need as with a diabetic diet than attempting to make your own meals and meal plans.

It is much easier and less stressful to open a package and pop your meal in the oven than it is to go grocery shopping and prepare the meal. This helps remove the urge to buy foods and sample the meal, as it cooks which is certainly not going to help you with your diet efforts.

If you are diabetic and over weight and want to try a low carbohydrate diet speak to a nutritionist first and make sure you understand what foods you cannot have before ordering any meals.

Often time’s diabetics discover they can manage their diabetes better when they are at or close to their ideal weight.
