Volunteer with the American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association is committed to stopping diabetes once and for all, but they can’t do it alone. If you have diabetes and want to make a difference in the fight against the disease, consider volunteering for the American Diabetes Association.

The American Diabetes Association has a number of community outreach programs, all of which require volunteer power to maintain efficiency. Visit their online Volunteer Center and enter in your zip code to find volunteer opportunities near you. The information provided below highlights national volunteer opportunities available throughout the United States.

Diabetes EXPOS

Each year the ADA hosts numerous free diabetes conventions throughout the United States, including health screenings, cooking demonstrations, exhibitions, and keynote speakers. Volunteers are needed as greeters, exhibitor captains, speaker captains, information specialists, and more. You can call them at 1-800-DIABETES (800-342-2383) to learn more.

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes

Step Out is the American Diabetes Association’s traditional fundraising walk that has raised more than $150 million over the past 20 years to stop diabetes. Leadership volunteers for the walk will help recruit sponsors, teams, and other volunteers to raise vital fundraising dollars. On the day of the walk, volunteers help manage the event and facilitate an excited atmosphere.

Tour de Cure

The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held across America for people of all ages and athletic abilities. It’s not a race, so anyone can participate in the fundraising experience. Committee leadership volunteers organize logistics, publicity, or event activities teams. Committee members volunteer on different teams to carry out their tasks. Volunteers are needed for medical committees, food committees, safety committees, etc. Day of event volunteers are needed for check-in, food/water areas, mechanical support, and many more tasks.
