Sugar Side Effects
Sugar. It is in almost everything we consume, from mixes to condiments. We are so attached to it that our yearly consumption of the white stuff has increased to almost 140 pounds per person. While it is a persistent sign of eminent danger for diabetics, it should be a warning for everyone..
Although we love the taste of sugar, it does have some interesting side effects. Besides the obvious reasons that too much can promote cavities and weight gain, sugar also affects your skin. The more sugar you consume, the more it forms destructive molecules that attack the protein fibers in your skin- causing wrinkles and sagging.
It has also been discovered that sugar suppresses the body's immune system. The more glucose that is present, the more it detracts much-needed vitamins from helping boost the immune system. Once these vitamins are interrupted from doing their job, the body's defensive system drops dramatically and the individuals is much more prone to illness.
Scientists also know that sugar works to actually feed cancer cells. It also inhibits the normal function of the liver- the cleansing organ of the body, causing it to increase in size and store fat. Sugar also feeds other growths that can be detrimental to our health, including Candida yeast infections and chronic degenerative disease. It is also responsible for increasing the chances of developing some nasty diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
Sugar is responsible for upsetting the delicate balance within our bodies of some very important hormones. This creates a cataclysmic event of health issues. There is an increase in estrogen, which in women is believed to be a direct cause in breast cancer, and not helpful when it is elevated in men. It also suppresses growth hormones and exaggerates menstrual conditions for women.
