Recent Study Uncovers how the “Starvation Hormone” Works and what it could Possibly Mean for Diabetics
A new study conducted by UT Southwestern Medical Center researchers
May lead to preventing insulin sensitivity. It could also lead to new treatments for obesity, cancer and heart disease.
The Hormone Adiponectin
The hormone adiponectin when introduced to cells, the researchers found that the hormone “triggers the conversion of ceramides from a destructive force into one that helps cells survive and inhibits cell death.” In another research study, it showed that the body stores significantly high levels of the hormone adiponectine, which can lead to not only heart disease and obesity but to diabetes as well. The body stores the adiponectine when it feels threatening by a lack of food. In other words people who do not eat properly well actually very poorly only consuming small amounts of food/calories per day this activity produces the term “starvation hormone.”
Conclusion
With more research and clinical studies, diabetics may have Bette treatment options in the future. As will people who struggle with obesity, heart disease, cancer and other diseases and conditions that the hormone adiponectin effects.
