November - National Diabetes Month

The month of November is national diabetes month. During November, the American Diabetes Association focuses on raising awareness and money to help diabetics, researchers and scientists try to find better treatments, and maybe even a cure will be found some day.

Events

There are several events taking place all across the nation to raise awareness. The majority of the events are free but some do cost a small fee to attend. You can find everything from pre diabetes screenings, support groups, educational classes, diabetic cooking classes, and expos across the country all for the purpose of helping diabetics and the thousands of people who will be diagnosed with diabetes during the month of November.

Fundraising

The American Diabetes Associations is also participating in a number of fundraising events. VSP Vision Care will donate $2 for every $1 you donate! The “Community Campaign” is another way you can donate money to raise awareness and help find a cure. You can choose to do your community campaign in memory of a loved one whose life was taken by diabetes or you can do a personal page for yourself or a page for a family member or a friend. The important thing is that you do something to help even though it may not seem like much to you, when several people do even just a little it all adds up!

Make a Video Win an Ipad

You also have the opportunity to make a 30 second video telling why you want to stop diabetes. The American Diabetes Association is offering an Apple Ipad to those who come in first, second and third.

The important thing is that you do something to help STOP diabetes! What you chose to do is up to you just do something.
