What Is Glipizide?
The best way to take Glipizide is when you are also implementing a regimen of both exercise and a proper diet. Glipizide is only meant for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is not effective against type 1 since it is only effective if the individual is producing insulin in the normal manner.
Glipizide is part of a class of drugs called sulfonylureas. This means that it helps the body in two separate actions. First, it helps the body produce the insulin that is necessary for normal functioning and second, it takes this insulin and uses it in its most effective way possible.
There are several reasons why you will not be able to take this medication. If you are experiencing diabetic ketoacidosis then you will need to refrain from taking it. Also, there is a list of different types of medications that can cause an adverse reaction when the two are combined. Your doctor will have a list of these medicines that you should avoid mixing it with.
There are several other conditions that you should consult your doctor about before resuming this medicine. If you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. Also, let your doctor know if you are planning to have dental surgery or a medical procedure. You will also need to ask your doctor if it is safe to consume alcohol while taking this drug.
This drug is designed for as a way of treating diabetes. If you start to feel better you should still continue your medication. Only your doctor should advise you when it is fine to stop taking it.
